Director of Alumni & Entrepreneur Engagement
Chris is the Burgess Institute’s Director of Alumni & Entrepreneur Engagement, dually appointed with the MSU Alumni Office. He leads the Institute’s alumni outreach efforts, building advocacy and support for MSU’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, while helping successful alumni advance MSU’s growing, nationally ranked student entrepreneurship education program.
A passionate social venturer himself, Chris is the founder and executive director of Lansing 5:01. The non-profit engages, attracts, and retains talent to the Greater Lansing Region through place-based initiatives and events that promote the community’s vibrance — and happens to be a top destination for college graduates and returning professionals.
In his spare time, Chris also serves on the Board of Directors at Impression 5 Science Center, the External Advisory Board for Western Michigan University’s School of Communication, and is a graduate of the Leadership Lansing program led by the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. Chris is a 2016 recipient of the Chamber’s 10 Over the Next Ten award, which recognizes emerging community leaders making a difference.
Chris is a proud graduate of Western Michigan University (BA, 2007) and Michigan State University (MA, 2010).
