Michigan State University Student Entrepreneurs Earn Spots in EO Detroit’s Global Student Entrepreneur Awards

The Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation is proud to announce that four Michigan State University student-led teams have been selected to compete in the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA), hosted by Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) Detroit.

MSU will be represented by four high impact teams whose ventures showcase grit, imagination, and execution that define Spartan entrepreneurship.

Meet the Entrepreneurs: 
Colin O’Hern - LaparAssist 
David Heyn - Beach Boys Window Washing Service 
David Lalaj - Single Scoop Vending 
Jake Veri - Rapid Recharge

This year, EO Detroit will host GSEA at Walsh College in Troy, MI on January 15, 2026. Competitors will vie for $7,500 for first place and $2,500 for second place with winners advancing to the next level of global competition.

The event will also feature a Lemonade Stand experience designed to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs. Open to students ages 8-17, the Lemonade Stand allows young participants to to sell or showcase items they have created as part of a small business. There is no cost to participate.
