The Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation celebrates a major milestone for Michigan State University alumni and brothers Ryan Letzeiser and Aaron Letzeiser, following the acquisition of their company, Obie, by The Baldwin Group (NASDAQ: BWIN), a leading independent insurance brokerage firm.
Founded in 2017, Obie built a digital platform designed to modernize insurance for real estate investors and property owners. The company became known for its streamlined underwriting, data-driven approach, and customer-focused experience within a traditionally complex industry.
Through the acquisition, Obie will join The Baldwin Group’s expanding portfolio of insurance distribution platforms, strengthening Baldwin’s embedded insurance capabilities and positioning Obie’s technology-driven platform for broader national reach. Obie will continue operating with its existing leadership and strategic focus while leveraging Baldwin’s scale and resources to accelerate growth.
Aaron and Ryan Letzeiser remain actively engaged with the Burgess Institute and the broader MSU entrepreneurial ecosystem through mentorship, speaking engagements, and ongoing support of student founders and Institute initiatives.
The acquisition highlights the growing impact of Spartan-led ventures and the expanding influence of founders connected to Michigan State University.
