MSU Student Wins First Place at Startup Zoo Pitch Competition

By Jana Hassan, student writer

Student entrepreneurs took the stage at Startup Zoo Pitch Night, representing Michigan State University and showcasing a range of ventures across industries including security, healthcare, fintech, and wellness.

Among these competing was founder Jinu Kang, founder of Coldbridge, who earned first place for his innovative approach to functional beverages. Coldbridge is the world’s first “anti-energy drink,” designed to help people rediscover their natural energy cycle without caffeine or artificial stimulants.

The event featured a strong lineup of student founders across Michigan, bringing forward ideas designed to solve real-world challenges. For Jinu Kang, the experience marked a significant milestone in his entrepreneurial journey, as he refined his pitch, engaged with judges, and demonstrated the potential of Coldbridge in a competitive environment.

Experiences like Startup Zoo highlight the exposure Spartan founders gain as they test and validate their ideas in front of live audiences. Through opportunities to pitch, receive feedback, and compete, students are empowered to think critically, move quickly, and build ventures that extend beyond campus.
