WELCOME BACK, SPARTAN VENTURERS: ANNOUNCING THE BURGESS INSTITUTE'S FALL 2021 EVENTS LINEUP

by Charlotte Bachelor

The Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation is thrilled to announce Fall Semester 2021's lineup of high-impact events. Open to all students, the institute's events are available in various formats, including in-person, virtual, and, where shown, hybrid.

Every year, Spartans across campus take advantage of the Burgess Institute's calendar of events found at eship.msu.edu/calendar.

As always, the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and community are our top priority. All participants should follow all Michigan State University's COVID-19 mandates. Don't forget: We are in this together!

INNOVATE STATE SPEAKER SERIES

The Innovate State Speaker Series brings both emerging and accomplished Spartans back to campus for a fireside chat-style interview. These 60-minute sessions offer the chance for guests to share their perspectives on a wide array of topics like innovation, startup life, investments, and career paths. These are stories of success, stories of failures, and stories of uncommon will—and you do not want to miss them.

Innovate State is hosted and managed by The Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in partnership with the MSU Foundation and MSU Innovation Center. Free and offered in a hybrid format (both in-person and online), every Innovate State starts at 6 p.m. (ET) in the Larry and Teresa Gaynor Entrepreneurship Lab found in the lower level of the Minskoff Pavilion. You can catch the digital livestream on our Vimeo channel. Early registration is highly encouraged.

2DAY VENTURE

2DAY VENTURE (2DV) is a hands-on learning experience for Spartans, regardless of home college, major, or background. Each event offers unbeatable entrepreneurial education resources and opportunities to explore turning an idea into a venture. In just 36 hours, go from small-group collaboration to idea realization.

By the end of Day Two, each team pitches their venture idea to a group of judges for a chance to win $500 in seed funding!

2DV encourages students of all majors, skillsets, & experience levels to embrace the entrepreneurial mindset. For students enrolled in the Minor in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, 2DV qualifies as a required high-impact experience.

No Idea? No Problem!

You don't have to have a venture idea to take part in 2DV! Before the event, there will be an opportunity for applicants to choose which venture idea they like the most and join a team!

This year, the Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation introduces 2DAY VENTURE THEMES designed to inspire student venturers across the entire campus community.
