John K. Sears Memorial Scholarship

The John K. Sears Memorial Scholarship honors the life and legacy of John K. Sears by supporting Michigan State University students who are actively building ventures through entrepreneurship. Established by SC Environmental Services, this scholarship reflects a commitment to preserving John’s entrepreneurial spirit while investing in the next generation of Spartan founders.

The scholarship supports students who are taking real steps to build, test, and grow ventures, especially those pursuing work in industries rooted in building, operations, and impact.

Who Should Apply

This scholarship is for students who are engaged in venture building and interested in applying entrepreneurship within technical, industrial, or operations-driven fields. Students who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply. Application deadlines and award details are outlined in the application. Applicants must:

• Be a student in good academic standing at Michigan State University.
• Be a current participant in the Venture Creation Program.
• Are residents of Ingham County, Eaton County, or Clinton County (preferred)
• Are pursuing ventures in industrial construction, facilities and building contracting, manufacturing, or related industries (preferred)
